Elizabethan collars (cones) are used by some veterinarians to prevent pets from chewing or licking.  In our office, these will never be used on our patients.  Patients lick and chew because the site itches or hurts.  With today's medical advances, there is no need for such a primitive form of care.  Using quality supplies and adequate pain medication, makes the use of cones obsolete.
