Let me just say hip hip hooray for 70 degrees!!! I love playing outside and am so excited that my people have been coming outside more with me now. I guess humans like the warmer weather too. In fact, we went on a barktastic walk yesterday but when we got home mommy found a tick on me - and one on her! Mommy says even if it gets cold again it won't be cold enough to kill the ticks. Guess we have to look out for these things already.
There are lots of different ways to help keep ticks from bothering you. There are medicines that taste like treats and there are some liquids that just go between your shoulders. Ask your vet what they recommend. There are medicines at stores like Walmart but some don't work and some are dangerous - especially for cats. It's so much safer to get what your vet recommends.
Mommy told my people brothers and sister that after our walk they had to do a "tick check." Mommy says some ticks can make you sick but most are just gross. It is a good idea to pull a tick off if you find it though. I'm working with the doctors at Stone House to (hopefully) make a video about the best way to remove a tick. I'll post it as soon as it's ready. In the meantime, if your people find a tick on you and don't feel comfortable removing it, the Techs at Stone House can remove it for you for at no charge.
Here's to many more warm weather walks - and no ticks!!
Love and Licks,
I'm Kona, a 2 year old Rottweiler. I love to run, play and give kisses....alot of licks means alot of kisses! Mom has worked at Stone House for almost 12 years and was just waiting for the perfect dog and I'M IT!! I also have a cat brother and 3 people siblings. I love them all (but the cat won't believe me!)
